Everyone is especially welcome at our dances, no partners are necessary and all dances are led, and there is a free mid-evening supper and refreshments are freely available all night. Please do bring a contribution for the supper tables. You are welcome to come in casual dress, but costumes are fun! Do join our email list for further information and information on advance discount tickets to special events.

We are delighted to provide hospitality for out-of-town guests, and they are not expected to bring contributions to the supper later in the evening.

n and men. Smooth soled-shoes, no stiletto heels, please.

DANCE LESSONS: Group dance lessons are available.

VOLUNTEER: Those who help with our balls have a wonderful time. It is an excellent way to meet other people in a fun, spirited, and enriching way. There are many ways to assist in making this another magical evening. We are always needing help setting up the hall, cleaning at the end, washing mugs, preparing supper, putting up decorations for special themes, sewing costumes for special displays and putting up posters around town.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND COMMENTS

1. Do I have to dance?
It's OK simply to enjoy listening to the music and watching the dancers, however the priority of the evening is to dance, so we keep the chairs in the hall to the sides to allow for safe dancing space. We have a few tables available on one side where you may sit and relax. Whether you come to watch or dance, we still require you to purchase a ticket.

2. I don't have formal clothes OR I don't wear dresses.
Please don't let that be a reason not to attend. People have dressed formally, in traditional dress, and less formally. Just dress up as much as you are able, most of you should have some nice slacks or skirt.

4. May I bring my camera or video camera?
No video cameras but you can bring your pocket camera. All we ask is that copies of photos are emailed to us on a CD for our records (87 Schlich St, Yarralumla ACT 2600).

5. How can I help?
Thank you so much for asking! There are many opportunities to help before, during, and after the Ball. Staying after the ball to help us sweep the floors, pack away tables and chairs and clean up the kitchen is greatly appreciated.

6. Is this an event I can bring my mother/grandfather/boss/child to?
This event is appropriate for school-age children and older. The site has easy access for the disabled. Supervised children are welcome as long as they have a ticket. These events have a lovely family-friendly feel. We have tables down the side of the hall that non-dancers can sit at and listen to the wonderful music.

7. Do you have baby-sitting services? We do not provide baby-sitting services. Please though, if your children are not dancing, bring something for them to read or colour in, even board games are useful. It is unsafe to let them run around the dance-floor. As the supper is mid-evening, bring something for them to snack on during the night. As I'm an organiser, and a mother of 4 children, one of whom is a special-needs child, I have arranged for my son's carer to come along and look after him at the balls - that way he can have fun and I don't get frazzled. Early in the evening you may wish to take your child on a walk near the old church and cemetary.
